The Defenders has been a rather highly anticipated series from Marvel and Netflix since audiences fell in love with Daredevil's first season back in April 2015. Having to follow the backlash of many poor reviews of Iron Fist from earlier this year, Defenders has to accomplish the hardship of winning audiences back over. The Defenders is the show you were hoping it to be; with a progressive plot, hard-hitting action and enjoyable character dynamic of the leading cast. The show's plot accelerates as the episodes continue, each episode bringing the characters together and as more of these heroes assemble the story picks up speed. This isn't just a show that can be watched if you've only seen one or none of the previous Marvel/Netflix series although for those who have, it acts as the next chapter for the characters. The story involves enough threat for these heroes to team-up with a far more organic feel than what you'd most likely be expecting despite each hero having the mutual friend of Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson). The dynamic of the leads are wonderful to see with an entertaining interaction on screen with just as captivating performances from the cast. Sigourney Weaver is the shows adversary Alexandra who is a calm and dignified figure in comparison to the previous foes we've encountered in the earlier Marvel/Netflix series. Keeping it's cinematic edge from beginning to end and the gritty tones, it's obvious that Daredevil season two's showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez have carried it over to The Defenders. Although when the show starts and each character is on their own, it copies the styles from each of the respectable series. Choreography of the fight sequences is the quality expected from the showrunners of Daredevil but this time they're more creative as we see Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) who are brawlers and possess super-strength. Encompassing the brawling and strength alongside that of Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) who are fast flowing Kung-Fu fighters makes a wonderful contrast in the fight sequences. They're well shot and executed each episode feels as if it contains a martial arts short film within them. Mr. Cynic Rates this 8/10 Punisher Teaser Trailer (NEW)
