The third solo outing of Marvel's Thor is definitely one of the more entertaining films from Marvel. Thor Ragnarok is visually enticing and mass fun on every level.
Probably some of the best visuals in the MCU (Marve Cinematic Universe), most notably the action scenes near the beginning and concluding segments of the film. The motion is fluid and the colours are vivid and stimulating. The Story is simple but the telling of it is incredible and unfolds at such a pleasing pace. Introducing more to the Asgardian mythology and blending it into the cosmic aspect of the MCU really lifts this film as an individual piece and as a wonderful step towards Marvels big event film of next year; Avengers: Infinity War. Although the story was easy to submerge into and enjoy, mostly through the high level of humour. The humour was a little unnecessary for scenes that should have had a deeper emotional impact. Some action scenes didn't have the consequences required and expected, leaving no sense depth. As for characters, Thor felt out of character for a majority of time due to the humour and yet The Hulk is the best he's been so far (on a visual aspect also). Hela is undoubtedly a stronger villain than other Marvel movies. Using other characters from the MCU in such an organic style and to not just be a simple cameo has that very rich comic book tone. Costumes for the core characters were very much in tone with the film and the personality of the charcters. As for Doctor Strange and the Grand Master and a large portion of the extra's, they appeared as if to be in a brightly colourful panto. The score had a very 80's synth style which fit to the tone of the film and the visuals. The use of Immigrant Song by Led zeppelin elevated the few scenes in which it was in that you could believe it was made for the film. Despite it flaws, Thor: Ragnarok is unlike any film being released in the past couple of decades and feels very original. It's as if the quality of each Masters of the Universe and Flash Gordon was increased tenfold and the both of them merged together (is the best shorthand I can create to help describe the film).
